Make your print stand out
Elevating a brand’s image above their competitors’ is a constant challenge. The arrival of digital marketing meant that marketing budgets were reassessed. Marketers needed to manage spend to include both digital and traditional marketing. Businesses may be printing fewer brochures but are utilising their budgets by using new design and print techniques that cut through a crowded marketplace.
One traditional printer can’t do everything but with our knowledge and extensive supplier base we can manage complex jobs from start to finish.
Looks matter
Marketing materials should be distinctive and noticeable. Your client wants to turn heads with a print campaign.
Colour is a key consideration. There has been much written regarding colour psychology i.e., how colour influences peoples’ perception of a brand. Research tells us that most people will relate to warmer colours such as orange, yellow and red. Cooler colours are generally considered to be purple, green and blue and these are generally perceived to be calming. Depending on the colours of the brand you’re working with, we offer suggestions to maximise the use and impact of these.
Additionally, geometric shapes and colours create a design that stands out. Shapes which use contrasting colours against their background will attract attention.
There are so many different finishes you can use – all of which we have worked with to great effect. To give you an idea of these finishes, here are a few;
- Foils – Using shiny (magpies love it!) metallic colours which give an eye-catching finish. Don’t just think silvers and golds – branch out into reds, greens and blues. There’s a whole rainbow out there.
- Cut – There are die cuts and angular cuts. Using a die cut means creating a cut-out section on a piece of print i.e., you create a window on an envelope, readers might see part of an image, which then tempts them to open it. Similarly, an angular cut will make a piece of print look more interesting, but you can then fold it out in a unique manner.
- Sleeves – The use of a sleeve not only offers increased protection to the marketing material, but it gives a sense of reveal - opening something special - whether it’s a dust jacket on a book or a wallet to hold a collection of postcards. It’s an easy way to elevate the value of your product.
- White print - a perfect way to stand out in a sea of generic marketing materials - white print can make a huge difference - especially when coupled with the right coloured stocks.
- Neon print – use of neon colours is becoming more popular. The colours are super bright because they contain pigments that absorb ultraviolet light that then reflects back out. Customers can’t miss them!
The feel-good factor
Skin is the largest organ in the body and is also the primary sensory organ for sense of touch. Fingertips can detect changes in texture and pressure, like the feeling of sandpaper or pushing a button. Textures add new dimensions to your marketing print. Utilising different materials in a print job makes it memorable.
Whether it’s a smooth matte finish brochure or a gloss finish, as well as feeling smooth and classy, it can catch your eye in the light. A high calibre piece of print suggests the same about a brand. Equally, the material used should reflect how customers feel about a company. For example, if you use FSC or 100% recycled stocks, it reassures the recipient that a brand is environmentally friendly.
