Perks of Pets at work
No matter what we share regarding print on our website or social media, a picture of our office dogs always gets the most engagement! There has been a definite increase in pets being in the workplace – and quite honestly we love going to an office where there are dogs.
Much research has been undertaken as to the benefits of pet ownership and the ability to take your dog to work. Many businesses can see the affect on work-life balance. A recent study revealed that employees who bring their pets to work often lead more productive and engaged work lives, as well as being happier in life generally. That’s a definite win.
Stress-free staff
It’s well-documented that owning a pet can lower blood pressure, reduce stress and improve mood. Spending too much time too close to a project can reduce productivity. Pets remind people to pause and step back from whatever they are involved in. Short walks and temporary distractions allow mental breaks which reduces the likelihood of becoming stressed.
Creative cats
Creativity comes from lots of different areas, including walking. Pets are a great reason to get up and moving. Research from Stanford University showed that walking increases creative thinking by approximately 60% so get up and take your pet out at lunchtime! It’ll get your steps up too!
Bonding benefits
Pets can help promote team bonding. There are many different personalities in an office but pets help form a connection between two people who do not know each other well or who have had some kind of conflict thereby reducing any tension.
Friendly (furry) face
First impressions count, so having an animal in the office often appeals to new clients or visitors. It will reinforce that your company values its employees – which is then an attraction for potential employees.
