Sustainability meets branding: How we helped The Haggis Box refresh their aprons
The Haggis Box is a brilliant independent food business in Edinburgh, serving up traditional haggis dishes with a modern twist. You’ll find them at their café in the Scottish Storytelling Centre on the Royal Mile, and they’re a familiar face at external catering events too.
Recently, they came to us with a challenge. Their team aprons were still in great condition, but the printed logos (done by another supplier some time ago) were peeling away and looking pretty rough. The aprons themselves had plenty of life left — it was just the branding that was letting them down.
Buying a full set of new aprons felt like a waste. More cost for the business, and more textile waste heading for landfill. So instead, they asked us: “Is there any way you can rescue these?”
We love a challenge like this. After running some tests, we found a way to safely remove the old branding and cover the area with a fresh new design. The aprons were cleaned up, rebranded, and ready for action again — without needing to order replacements.
The result was a set of aprons that looked sharp and professional for both café service and events, delivered at a fraction of the cost of buying new. Just as importantly, the solution extended the life of perfectly good uniforms and reduced textile waste — a win for the client and for the environment.
For us, this project was a reminder that sometimes the best results come from a bit of sideways thinking. By testing, experimenting, and not defaulting to “buy new,” we found a solution that worked better for the client and for the environment.
Sustainability and good design can go hand in hand — and often it just takes a different way of looking at the problem.
If your business has uniforms or branded items that could use a refresh, we’d love to help you find a solution that saves money and the environment.
